The CD version features a stunning gatefold cover and inner sleeves that were also printed by Stoughton and configured with an alternate layout.

First issued twenty years ago, this is the debut LP from the short-lived and highly influential Denver band. We kept the mix the same, but remastered the entire thing so that it’s no longer victim to the compression issues of that era of recorded music.

For the vinyl, we went with three different variations for the first pressing:

• TRANSLUCENT BLUE
• CLEAR
• PINK/BROWN 2-TONE

The cover layout remains the same (we didn’t even adjust the leading issues with the type) to stay consistent with the original feel of the LP.

The CD version of this album comes in a sharp-looking digipak that is intended to perfectly complement the S/T/”Stereo” CD/DVD we reissued prior.

Late last week, Revolver Magazine premiered “Gaea (Strings),” the first song from the upcoming HIGHNESS debut album Hold, along with a short feature on the band. To read the piece, you can check it out on the Revolver Magazine site.

RVA Magazine (out of the band’s partial hometown of Richmond, Virginia) also ran a recent feature on the band, which you can check out on the RVA Magazine site.

Hold will be in stores everywhere on May 14, 2013, along with a reissue of the first LP from singer Eric Richter’s former band CHRISTIE FRONT DRIVE. We anticipate it being a rather exciting day for fans of his work.

It’s been some months since we initially reissued this classic, but I’m still sitting here, completely blown away that this one ended up at the label. It was truly the soundtrack to the early years of assembling records and getting Magic Bullet up and running… and it stayed with me through repeated spins over the many years to follow. It’s truly an honor to have this one in the stable.

I believe this is the second pressing of the Magic Bullet edition. This time around we ended up with a few cool colors:

• GOLD
• MINT GREEN
• RED | GREY split

Seems to be an eclectic ensemble, so I trust that at least one of these is going to strike your fancy.

Let’s see… this time around, the covers have a standard finish (first press had a UV gloss finish). There is no bonus DVD in this edition, keeping the early pressing special. The same insert from the first pressing remains unchanged and every single copy comes with an Mp3 download of the entire album at no charge.

Per usual,  we don’t release pressing numbers on our stuff, so please simply choose whichever color(s) you personally dig and please be sure to actually listen to your purchase.

Eric Richter recently did a phone interview with Ray Harkins and Tom Mullen of the Washed Up Emo Podcast. During the ~67 minute conversation, Eric goes deep into the origins of his musical experiences both prior and during the heyday of CHRISTIE FRONT DRIVE (on top of various other topics and tangents). The conversation does a great job in being both extremely real and  candid. And from a historical perspective, it’s a great conversation for younger people currently involved in creating “underground” music to hear.

In related news, Eric recently played Noise Pop out in San Francisco with CHRISTIE FRONT DRIVE. It was a ton of fun and easily the longest CFD set in history (13 songs!). Thanks to all who attended. We’re now in the process of transferring the old recordings into modern formats to continue the process of getting all CHRISTIE FRONT DRIVE material back in print.

In the meantime, Eric continues to rehearse with new band HIGHNESS. Rounded out by Andy Buckalew, Brent Eyestone, Graham Scala (all ex-FORENSICS) and Ryan Parrish (ex-DARKEST HOUR), the band is currently working on their first album, due out sometime in 2012.

CHRISTIE FRONT DRIVE has confirmed an appearance on February 25, 2012 at the 20th annual Noise Pop festival in San Francisco, CA. More details will be announced soon, but we wanted to give you plenty of time to mark this on your calendar!

Seminal emo poster boys Christie Front Drive helped sketch the blueprint for literally hundreds of mall-dwelling, marble notebook-scribbling imitators. But this Denver quartet’s just reissued, self-titled second album from 1997, alternately known as Stereo remains a gorgeous collection of splayed rock masterpieces. The guitars shimmer and dash while the drums stay low in the mix. Eric Richter and Jason Begin sing simultaneously, but never collide. Their chemistry on “Fin” is like any good relationship: Sweet, sincere, a little desperate, and completely unique.
