Serving as a shining beacon to how broad the spectrum of “blackened” aural delights truly extends, the juxtaposition of pairing the mysterious and elusive VERMAPYRE with Los Angeles, CA’s IDES OF GEMINI indeed serves one of the sharper contrasts one could expect from a split record.

VERMAPYRE kick things off with a live documentation of a May 21, 2011 performance in Oslo, Norway. It’s raw, it’s unrelenting, it’s absolutely vicious. Rehydration feels necessary upon the conclusion of what’s clearly an exercise and  simultaneous reward system of the id.

Right on cue, IDES OF GEMINI come in like the high tide, enveloping the listener with a wide open flood of dreamy, cerebral doom. Sera Timms’ ethereal vocals hit like a siren’s song atop nasty, glacial riffs and expansive percussive emanations. When played back to back, it’s almost as if IDES OF GEMINI are the skillful hand administering sutures incurred during VERMAPYRE‘s unapologetic nail bomb of sound.

Housed in a special jacket featuring artwork from both bands and UV spot gloss atop a matte flood, each copy also contains a complimentary download code of the entire program, additional art, and color vinyl. Initial pressing: 500 pieces.

To kick off its 15th year as a label, Magic Bullet Records is going all the way back to release #1 and giving This Crying, This Screaming, My Voice is Being Born, by BOY SETS FIRE, its just dues on vinyl format. In attempts to provide an unfettered look back into an era long gone and reconnect a bit with the roots of both the band and the label, the presentation and execution behind this one comes straight from the humble DIY work ethic of both. Instead of digitally constructing the layout and zipping it up for a professional printer to mass-produce, assemble, and ship direct to distributors/stores, all inserts and assembly was executed as it was back then… essentially, huddling around a photocopier for a couple hours, followed by several more hours of folding, stuffing and bagging everything on a living room floor.

Filmed over the course of 2009 through late 2011, this installment once again chronicles the dynamic characters that comprise a small town’s skateboarding presence as they individually and collectively traverse the globe in search of the next spot.

The DVD is region-free and will play on any DVD player, drive, or computer in the world.

Thanks a bunch. We’ve got some awesome news and new things to throw at you in about a day or so…

While the official store date has not been set for this one with our distributor just yet, we wanted to celebrate its existence in grand fashion by making the LP first available IN PERSON at the start of ANCIENT VVISDOM‘S 2012 winter tour. Before they hit all of the US and Canada with GHOST and BLOOD CEREMONY, they will be playing a very special one-night-only show at Strange Matter in Richmond, VA supporting Sweden’s GRAVEYARD. It is at this show where A Godlike Inferno will first be offered to the public. To make it extra special, all 30 copies being sold will be test press editions and hand numbered sequentially.

In short, if you want one of the special editions, you’ll need to go to the show. Any leftover copies will be sold at subsequent live shows with GHOST and BLOOD CEREMONY. We will not be offering test presses via the webstore.

Once the final copies arrive at MB, we’ll be shipping some to the band for whatever shows remain. The rest will be sold via our webstore and your local record store. There should be a variety of colors available.

We’re extremely excited about this band and record and we hope you enjoy them both live and recorded!

The December 28 showing will also be the first place that copies of the DVD will be sold in person. After the premiere, copies will be sold starting December 29 at the Magic Bullet Records & Skateboards retail store in Fredericksburg (604 Caroline St.). For stores worldwide, Cobraside Distribution will be your source for wholesale copies.

Special edition t-shirts commemorating the release of the DVD (and our town’s #1 export…) will be made available at the Magic Bullet Records & Skateboards retail store starting this week. Webstore versions will roll out following the premiere.
