BOSS KONG Lets The Humans Soundtrack Vol. II Loose With Exclusive Stream And Feature At Decibel Magazine

Apr 23 2015

Having punished the humans with their rightful ways through initial warnings, primate biker horde, BOSS KONG, has successfully infiltrated the populous with The Humans Soundtrack Vol. II for Record Store Day. While the vinyl incarnation of the recordings on this platter is about to become extinct, the full 7” has been put on antagonistic display for the ditch-dredgers of humanity to endure courtesy of Decibel Magazine.

A segment of the brief Decibel interrogation of simian masterfuck of BOSS KONG, focusing specifically on the B-side Vietnam flashback single, “Viet Kong,” sees the brave mag scribe inquiring, “Who’s worse, music critics or the Vietcong?” Kong’s reply cuts to the dead heart of the matter, offering, “Not much difference, is there? They both pop out of their little holes when you least expect it and try to shoot you in the face. And they’re all Communists.”

Get your full dose of the BOSS KONG cross-examination and the full The Humans Soundtrack Vol. II via the cross-species investigators at Decibel Magazine at THIS LOCATION.

Once its wax supplies are sold out, The Humans Soundtrack Vol. II is out of print in a physical incarnation, but Bandcamp downloads can be placed HERE, and the remaining mailorder physical copies HERE.

The Humans Soundtrack Volume II 7” was created solely for Record Store Day 2015 in a limited, one-time-only run of orange/gold vinyl, the bloody slab’s exclusive cover art and insert art created by creator Tom Neely (Henry and Glenn Forever) for extra scene points. Fans of Boris, Deathspell Omega, and Sonic Youth, this sounds nothing fucking like that. Set in the late 1960s/early ‘70s, “The Humans” is a book about an all-simian biker gang from Bakersfield, California, drinking, fighting, and fucking their way through the turbulent world around them. BOSS KONG is one of the book’s more popular, interesting characters and this installment of the soundtrack series tells tales from the perspective of an ape that’s seen inhumanities both abroad and on the home front. Voiced by a mystery metal figurehead and performed by a cast of mystery stoner rockers, part of the fun of this 7” is trying to figure out who’s behind the music itself. Once revisiting the glory days, two new hash-pipe nightmare rocker jams await, spreading the rampaging demoralization of the Tet Offensive onto coked-up mullet debauchery on The Humans Soundtrack Volume II, like Ponyboy Curtis ten years after he went from gold to crushed Milwaukee aluminum, now leading the outcasts from the Planet Of The Apes into full-on bar-brawl burnout turf of the metal underworld.

BOSS KONG: Bloody Disgusting Debuts “Viet Kong” Single; Magic Bullet Preps 7” For Record Store Day As Simian Slaughter Unfolds

Apr 18 2015

Magic Bullet Records’ latest label acquisition — the simian mercenaries known as BOSS KONG – launch the full-on offensive of The Humans Soundtrack Vol. II tomorrow as an official Record Store Day release, but skirmish has broken out early, and the invasion of the “Viet Kong” has begun, raging through the frontline defenses intent on pillaging your village.

Charlie runs wild through the jungle dawn, Shovel mass graves for the Viet Kong.
Charlie runs thick as the day is long, Gonna get stabbed by the Viet Kong.
Ripping out throats in the hot Mekong, Don’t get fucked by the Viet Kong.
M-60s pierce the night, Special Forces & firefight. Cut loose & cut off heads, Put those Viet Kong to bed.

Early reports on the carnage come in courtesy of Bloody Disgusting, with the ape-drape savagery of BOSS KONG’s “Viet Kong” now playing HERE.

LYCIA: New Psalm From Exclusive Record Store Day Seven-Inch Streaming At Cvlt Nation

Apr 18 2015

Today, Cvlt Nation kicks off the weekend with the cathartic resonance of LYCIA’s “Silver Leaf.” The airy psalm comes off the band’s limited edition, split seven-inch with Black Mare, set for release tomorrow via Magic Bullet Records in honor of Record Store Day.

Hailing from Mesa, Arizona, LYCIA was initially forged back in the late ‘80s and ‘90s, confounding ears their groundbreaking ethereal darkwave sound conjurings. Heavily reverbed guitars, dark, wraithlike keyboard tones, and ominous programmed drums pushed the gothic scene forward as their music inspired Nine Inch Nails, Type O Negative, and many within tangential dark, industrial circles. Their 1995 album, The Burning Circle And Then Dust (Projekt Records) remains a cult hit to this day. With “Silver Leaf,” there is no joy; only an eternity to ponder what’s been done. “Silver Leaf” comes about long after summer is gone, “where bright horizons are hard to find.” All that remains is reflection and memory slipping like sand through worn fingers.

“I feel like I’m floating in darkest space, gliding through the sonic universe of LYCIA,” relays Cvlt Nation. “Allow the tune to guide you at THIS LOCATION.”

The BLACK MARE/LYCIA split will be unleashed on April 18th, 2015 (Record Store Day) and is available for preorder on limited edition black wax and grey swirl at THIS LOCATION. Digital lovers can order the split via Magic Bullet’s BandCamp page HERE or iTunes HERE. The title goes immediately out of print after Record Store Day. Exclusive cover art and insert art by the bands themselves round out this frostbitten slab of wax.

BLACK MARE: New “Low Crimes” Video Now Playing At Noisey; Split With LYCIA To See Release This Saturday

Apr 18 2015

Today, Vice’s music portal, Noisey, offers up the visual accompaniment to BLACK MARE’s “Low Crimes,” a hymn that comes by way of the band’s forthcoming split 7” with Lycia, set for release on Record Store Day via Magic Bullet Records.

BLACK MARE is the dark ambient side project of Ides Of Gemini frontwoman, Sera Timms. On “Low Crimes,” bandmates from Ides Of Gemini and Mustard Gas & Roses (MGR) contribute to an aurally lush, yet glacially-paced cruise through Timms’ frozen world wherein she encourages the mind’s eye to notice relics like the feathers of fallen angels scattered about the snow. Ice crystals form on an old church bell in the distance as the subarctic tones of the composition take over everything in their path. There is no escape and there will be no thaw.

“I was trying to capture a deep, lush underworld feeling on ‘Low Crimes,’” elaborates Timms of the track, “but I wanted there to be a thread of light and softness. My own voice was not providing this, so I ended up having Tara Vanflower from Lycia add backing vocals which gives the vocal parts this perfect ethereal shimmering quality just hovering above the darkness.”

Directed by Timms, the haunting visual journey that comprises “Low Crimes,” is currently playing at Noisey who issues of the tune, “…the slow-burn heroin blues of the track is made even more ethereal with Timms’s vocal, who shifts the song down an even darkly enchanting path. ‘Low Crimes’ is witchy, unique, and ultimately gorgeous stuff, and the video is similarly enthralling.”

Get swept away at THIS LOCATION.

The BLACK MARE/LYCIA split will be unleashed on April 18th, 2015 (Records Store Day) and is available for preorder on limited edition black wax and grey swirl at THIS LOCATION. Digital lovers can order the split via Magic Bullet’s BandCamp page HERE or iTunes HERE.

With a solid fanbase and buzz already going for them due to heavy widespread touring and a diehard worth ethic, the band independently released Fight For Yourself in Canada, which caught the attention of Magic Bullet Records, who officially re-released Fight For Yourself with proper distribution to the international masses.

BLACK MARE + LYCIA Team Up For Exclusive Record Store Day Split Set For Release Via Magic Bullet

Apr 14 2015

Magic Bullet is pleased to unveil two brand new and exclusive tracks from an amazingly complementary pairing of Los Angeles, California’s BLACK MARE and Mesa, Arizona’s LYCIA.

BLACK MARE is the dark ambient solo project of Ides Of Gemini frontwoman, Sera Timms. On “Low Crimes,” bandmates from Ides Of Gemini and Mustard Gas & Roses (MGR) contribute to the sonic journey; an aurally lush, yet glacially-paced cruise through Timms’ frozen world wherein she encourages the mind’s eye to notice relics like the feathers of fallen angels scattered about the snow. Ice crystals form on an old church bell in the distance as the subarctic tones of the composition take over everything in their path. There is no escape and there will be no thaw.

LYCIA initially came to prominence back in the late ‘80s and ‘90s with their groundbreaking darkwave and ethereal wave styles. Heavily reverbed guitars, dark/ethereal keyboard tones, and ominous programmed drums pushed the gothic scene forward as their music inspired Nine Inch Nails, Type O Negative, and many within tangential dark, industrial circles. Their 1995 album, The Burning Circle And Then Dust (Projekt Records) remains a cult hit to this day. “Silver Leaf” plays out as the seamless companion to BLACK MARE’s “Low Crimes,” both musically and thematically. There is no joy in either artists’ world, only an eternity to ponder what’s been done. “Silver Leaf” comes about long after summer is gone, “where bright horizons are hard to find.” All that remains is reflection and memory slipping like sand through worn fingers.

The title goes immediately out of print after Record Store Day. Exclusive cover art and insert art by the bands themselves round out this frostbitten slab of wax.

BOSS KONG: Magic Bullet Records To Uncage Ape Biker Gang Metal 7″ Tied In With Image Comics Series For Record Store Day

Apr 08 2015

Exactly what is, or who are, the back-alley primates that created this beastly outfit known as BOSS KONG you may ask? And the answer is: don’t write a check your ass can’t cash, Jack. Go ahead and dig around if you have some kind of desire to get jacked-up in the end, or if you’re in Columbo’s bloodline of trenchcoat wizardy, but otherwise, I’d just take it for what it is and go about your goddamn business. That said, bio fodder be damned, as these tunes speak for themselves, and all are invited to get slaughterhouse crunked-up and blaze the latest from the BOSS KONG pact on the latest excursion into a demented rendition of the past.

As a crossover/tie-in with the brand new Image Comics series “The Humans,” Magic Bullet Records is proud to present The Humans Soundtrack Vol. II, by BOSS KONG. Set in the late 1960s/early ’70s, “The Humans” is a book about an all-simian biker gang from Bakersfield, California, drinking, fighting, and fucking their way through the turbulent world around them. BOSS KONG is one of the book’s more popular, interesting characters and this installment of the soundtrack series tells tales from the perspective of an ape that’s seen inhumanities both abroad and on the home front. Voiced by a mystery metal figurehead and performed by a cast of mystery stoner rockers, part of the fun of this 7″ is trying to figure out who’s behind the music itself.

Exclusively created for Record Store Day 2015, Magic Bullet Records will spark BOSS KONG‘s latest spliff in its bodily format on a greasy 7″ slab of vinyl on April 18th in all RSD stores, and through those goddamned digital downloadable things you kids like just four days prior. All “real” copies of The Humans Soundtrack Volume II are pressed on a limited edition, one-time-only run of orange/gold vinyl, and this title goes immediately out of print after Record Store Day. The piece’s exclusive cover art and insert art were created by creator Tom Neely (Henry and Glenn Forever); just one more set of scene points to round out this completely awesome slab of wax. Vintage ape-drape rocker warfare awaits you at the gates.

For digital preorders of The Humans Soundtrack Volume II, sniff out that Bandcamp and iTunes digitalia and ram it. To bag the wax, set up camp at your local Record Store Day depot, bro. Bancamp preorders are HERE, and mailorder HERE.

This individual recently bid and won several records from us via eBay. We shipped, insured, and issued tracking on the package. When we provided the tracking that confirmed delivery, the buyer then decided to contact his credit card company, stating that he never ordered the items. NY IN 64: “A Towering Relic” From Magic Bullet Records-Bound Debut LP Now Playing At MetalSucks

Apr 02 2015

MetalSucks has released the newest single from NY64, the debut LP from the New Jersey-based instrumental rock/hardcore outfit known as NY IN 64, launching the record’s third track, “A Towering Relic.”

While over-the-top metallic brutalization is far from NY IN 64’s approach, a deeply emotional pummeling undeniably in store over the course of their recorded debut, NY64breaching a wide rift of pain and loss, and confronting said demons entirely sans vocals or lyrics. Handling nearly every aspect of the album themselves, the recordings were captured in November at Volume Fact and Backroom Studios (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Foxy Shazam, Meek Is Murder) by guitarist Chris Alfano, and mastered by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East, and its fitting cover shot/designed by guitarist Justin Hock. “A Towering Relic” becomes available for communal consumption through prime webzine, MetalSucks, who offers of the new tune, “Since East of the Wall are my main touchstone here, I hear plenty of East of the Wall-isms going on — fat, chunky bass, deep pocket grooves, atmospheric guitars and complex arrangements — but I hear something else too… It’s heavy, but it’s also emotional. It’s overtly complex, but it’s soundly structured. In short: it’s really fucking good.”

NY IN 64: New Jersey Instrumental Act Featuring You And I and East Of The Wall Members Releases Debut LP Details, New Track

Mar 26 2015

New Jersey’s instrumental quartet, NY IN 64 — featuring former members of You And I and current residents of East Of The Wall — will release their recently completed debut LP, NY64via Magic Bullet Records on April 7th with a vinyl edition to follow shortly after. The enigmatic album’s artwork, track listing and additional details have been revealed this week, in addition to new live shows the band is booking in support of its release.

NY IN 64’s maiden voyage into album land explores vast, lush terrain in genre territories some may apply “post” prefixes to, or refer to as “progressive,” but the simple fact is, the band merely executes spectacularly crafted, instrumental, melodic, hardcore/rock, constructed from an unbreakable core, and its shimmering layers seemingly weaving directly into the earth as they unfold. With turmoil and tranquility interwoven throughout the entire album, the seven dynamic sequences that formulate NY 64 were recorded in November at Volume Fact and Backroom Studios (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Foxy Shazam, Meek Is Murder) by guitarist Chris Alfano, and mastered by Nick Zampiello at New Alliance East, and the cover photography and layout by guitarist Justin Hock.

Magic Bullet Records has unveiled the track listing and cover art for NY 64, which will see official release on CD and digital outlets on April 7th. A 12” vinyl version will be released in the near future as well, with a street date to be confirmed shortly. Digital preorders via Bandcamp have been posted HERE; CD and LP preorders will be available shortly.

NY IN 64’s sixth track “Maintaining Now, The Contact,” is now playing via Bandcamp HERE and Youtube HERE.

NY 64 Track Listing:
1. Soon, You Will Lose Me
2. Bystander
3. A Towering Relic
4. Washington Square
5. The World’s Fair
6. Maintaining Now, The Contact
7. Stan & Steve

NY IN 64 has begun booking new shows in support of their debut album, including a short record release trek. The three-city run sees the band playing Wayne, New Jersey on Wednesday, April 8th — just one day after the record is released — followed by a show in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Friday, April 10th and a set in New York City on Saturday, April 11th. Additional tour dates will be announced in the coming weeks, along with additional album news and more.

NY IN 64 Live:
4/08/2015 Gili’s Place – Wayne, NJ w/ Locktender, Entia, Forever Losing Sleep, Facility
4/10/2015 Lava Space – Philadelphia, PA w/ Locktender, Soul Glo, To Tremble
4/11/2015 ABC No Rio – New York, NY w/ Locktender, Cinema Cinema, Sangharsha

After taking a fifteen-year hiatus from writing music together, Justin Hock and Thomas Schlatter — both part of the writing team behind ‘90s screamo band, You And I — began laying down the framework to collaborate once again. To flesh out the outfit, Schlatter and Hock recruited New Jersey musical veterans Chris Alfano and Seth Rheam, best known for their work in the progressive powerhouse East Of The Wall, among many other acts, completing the lineup for NY IN 64. Completely void of vocals, the raw energy of ‘90s hardcore supplied by Hock and Schlatter, mixed with the refined technical aspects of progressive metal Alfano and Rheam deliver, were like two worlds colliding, however, resulted into something that seamlessly blended the two contrary styles. While injecting the energy and enthusiasm of a basement show into a more refined musical composition, NY IN 64 attempts to harness two sides of many coins; youth and age, rawness and precision, joy and hostility.
